The Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, Ajobo Olurin I, will today, Saturday, September 5, 2026, host the commissioning of the newly renovated and extended Eleruwa Palace as part of activities marking his first coronation anniversary.

The occasion will also feature the conferment of traditional titles on Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and his wife, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde, by the Ibarapa Traditional Council.

Governor Makinde is expected to be honoured with the title of Aare Soludero, while the First Lady will receive the title of Yeye Aare Soludero.

The ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Eleruwa Palace, Eruwa, with Fresh FM Ibadan announcing plans to provide live coverage of the event.

The ceremony is particularly significant as it marks the first coronation anniversary of Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, Ajobo Olurin I, who was presented with the staff and instruments of office as the Eleruwa of Eruwa on March 6, 2025. Governor Makinde had earlier congratulated the monarch on his coronation and pledged continued attention to development in Eruwa and Ibarapa.

The anniversary provides an opportunity for the Eleruwa and the people of Eruwa to reflect on the monarch's first year on the throne, while celebrating the traditional institution and its place in the social and cultural life of the community.

A major highlight of today's programme will be the commissioning of the newly renovated and extended Eleruwa Palace.

The palace announcement said the commissioning forms part of the activities lined up for the monarch's first coronation anniversary.

The development is expected to add a new dimension to the traditional institution's activities and provide an improved setting for receiving dignitaries, traditional engagements and other community functions.

The conferment of the Aare Soludero and Yeye Aare Soludero titles on Governor Makinde and his wife respectively will be another major attraction of the ceremony.

The honours are being conferred by the Ibarapa Traditional Council, bringing together traditional rulers, government representatives, community leaders and other dignitaries.

For the Eleruwa and the people of Eruwa, the occasion is expected to combine royal tradition, community celebration and recognition of individuals considered to have contributed to the development of the area.

The event is also expected to showcase Yoruba cultural heritage through traditional attire, royal protocols and other elements of Eruwa's cultural identity.

Beyond the presence of the governor and the conferment of titles, the celebration places the Eleruwa and Eruwa at the heart of the day's activities.

It is expected to attract sons and daughters of Eruwa, traditional rulers from across Ibarapa, political leaders, community stakeholders and other guests.

The event comes as the Eleruwa continues his reign following his installation as the 17th Eleruwa of Eruwa. The monarch has previously called for unity among the people and emphasised the importance of preserving the customs and cultural values of Eruwaland while working for the community's development.

Today's ceremony is therefore expected to be both a celebration of the monarch's first year on the throne and a reflection of the continuing relationship between the traditional institution, government and the people of Eruwa.
