IBADAN — Otunba Saheed Bamiji Makinde has congratulated his brother, Mogaji Kabiru Ademola Makinde of Makinde Ope-Oya Compound, Atipe, Oje, on his nomination for elevation into the Olubadan Chieftaincy Line by His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I.
The nomination was made by the Olubadan in consultation with the Olubadan-in-Council following vacancies that occurred within some positions in the traditional lines of succession after the passing of a High Chief and other Chiefs.
Mogaji Kabiru Ademola Makinde was nominated alongside Mogaji Charles Durosaro and Mogaji Wole Arisekola, while the remaining vacant position is expected to be filled and announced in due course.
A Moment of Pride for the Makinde Family
In his congratulatory message, Otunba Bamiji Makinde expressed delight over his brother's nomination, describing the development as a significant moment of pride for the Makinde Ope-Oya Compound, Atipe, Oje, and the entire Makinde family.
He noted that the elevation from the position of Mogaji into the Olubadan Chieftaincy Line comes with greater responsibilities and expectations, urging his brother to embrace the new stage of his traditional journey with humility, wisdom, good character and dedication to the service of his people.
Otunba Bamiji expressed confidence that Mogaji Kabiru Ademola Makinde would justify the confidence reposed in him by the Olubadan and the Olubadan-in-Council.
He also appreciated the traditional institution for recognising his brother's place in the succession structure and prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and good health as he progresses in the Olubadan chieftaincy system.
Congratulations to Other Nominees
Otunba Bamiji Makinde also extended his warm congratulations to Mogaji Charles Durosaro and Mogaji Wole Arisekola on their nominations.
He described their emergence as another important development in the continuation of the revered traditional succession system of Ibadanland and wished them wisdom, strength and good health as they assume their new responsibilities within the chieftaincy line.
The nominations followed the emergence of vacancies in the Olubadan Chieftaincy Line and form part of the established progression within the unique Ibadan traditional institution.
The date and arrangements for the official installation of the nominees are expected to be announced following further directives from the Olubadan.
