YEJIDE GIRLS’ GRAMMAR SCHOOL MOLETE IBADAN COMMENCES ACTIVITIES FOR ITS 70TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The prestigious Yejide Girls’ Grammar School, Molete, Ibadan, has officially commenced activities to celebrate its 70th Anniversary, marking seven decades of nurturing disciplined, intelligent, and impactful women.


The celebration, organized by the Yejide Old Girls’ Association (YOGA), promises to be a blend of nostalgia, inspiration, and renewal, with a series of exciting and educative events running from November 2025 to February 2026.


According to the Central Coordinating Committee of YOGA, the milestone anniversary is themed around “Celebrating a Legacy of Excellence, Resilience, and Womanhood” — reflecting the enduring values of Yejide since its establishment in 1956.

ACTIVITIES KICK OFF


The first event on the lineup is the Elimination Stage of the Inter-School Quiz and Debate Competitions, slated for Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the School Hall, Molete, Ibadan, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The top three schools in the debate category will qualify for the grand finale during the anniversary week.

PROGRAMME LINE-UP


Day 1 — Thursday, 29th January 2026


Morning: Opening Parade (from St. David’s Church to the School Hall), followed by a Symposium.

Afternoon: Final Stage of the Quiz and Debate Competitions.

Day 2 — Friday, 30th January 2026


Morning: Central Reunion featuring a Documentary on Yejide Girls’ Grammar School (1956–2026), celebration of the Class of 1956, and entertainment including songs, drama, playlets, and mimicking of past teachers and principals.

Afternoon: Break for lunch and JUMAT Service.

Evening: Novelty Sports Match — Old Girls vs Present Students.

Day 3 — Saturday, 31st January 2026


Morning till Afternoon: Group Reunions for branches, chapters, and class sets under decorated canopies around the school compound.

Food vendors will be available on site to serve guests.

Novelty Sports: Inter-Set Competitions.

Luncheon Party & Fundraising Event at an external event centre.

Day 5 — Monday, 2nd February 2026


Morning: Church Thanksgiving Service.

Afternoon: Reception and Feast for all staff and students at the School Hall.

A CELEBRATION OF LEGACY AND SISTERHOOD


The National President of Yejide Old Girls Association (YOGA), Mrs. Moji Giwa-Osagie, described the 70th Anniversary as “more than a reunion — it’s a revival of sisterhood and a rededication to the school’s core values of discipline, knowledge, and service.”


She urged all old girls, well-wishers, and friends of Yejide to participate in the celebration, as the event will feature the unveiling of legacy projects and renewed commitments toward sustaining Yejide’s standard of excellence.
