The family of the late Nollywood actor, Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has expressed profound appreciation to fans, colleagues, friends, associates and well-wishers who turned out in large numbers for his burial on Monday, August 24, 2026.
The appreciation was conveyed by veteran actor Babajide Kosoko, who said he had the mandate of the family to thank everyone who supported them and honoured the late actor with their presence.
According to Kosoko, the massive turnout was a demonstration of the love, respect and affection that people had for Ogogo during his lifetime.
He acknowledged that the family might not be able to mention everyone individually, but prayed that Almighty Allah would reward all those who stood by the family during the difficult period.
The family also announced the remaining programmes for the completion of the burial rites of the late actor.
8th-Day Fidau Prayer
The 8th-day Fidau prayer for the late Alhaji Babatunde Taiwo Hassan will hold on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Ilaro.
The family appealed to friends, colleagues, fans and well-wishers to continue to support them by joining the family in Ilaro for prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
The family prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive Ogogo's shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.
40-Day Artists' Day in Honour of Ogogo
As part of the final activities to honour the late actor, an Artists' Day will also be held 40 days after his burial at Pavilion Hall, Ilaro.
The event is expected to bring together actors, musicians, comedians, singers and other practitioners in the entertainment industry for a day of performances and celebration of Ogogo's life and legacy.
The Artists' Day is described as a traditional gesture within the entertainment community and a fitting tribute to an actor whose contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry earned him widespread recognition.
The programme will be coordinated by TAMPAN — Theatre and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria.
Family Appreciates Nigerians
The family reiterated its appreciation to everyone who has continued to identify with them since Ogogo's death, describing the support as a source of strength during a difficult period.
The family prayed for blessings, protection and peace for all those who have supported them and asked that their kindness would be rewarded abundantly by Almighty Allah.
As the burial rites continue, colleagues, fans and admirers of the late actor are expected to converge on Ilaro once again to honour the memory of a man whose career and personality left a lasting impression on Nigeria's entertainment industry.
