The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has announced plans to convene a one-day Stakeholders’ Summit aimed at addressing rising cases of killings, injuries, destruction of farmlands and settlements linked to open grazing conflicts across the state.
The Chairperson of the agency, Hon. Justice Aderonke Aderemi (Rtd.), disclosed that the summit will bring together critical stakeholders to examine prevailing security challenges associated with farm invasions, violent clashes and property destruction, while jointly exploring sustainable and lawful solutions.
According to her, the summit will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, by 10:00 a.m. at Le Chateau Event Centre, Awolowo Avenue, near Housing Corporation Roundabout, Ibadan. The event will be chaired by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Justice Aderemi explained that the summit, themed “Navigating the Oyo State Anti-Open Grazing Law: Ensuring Adherence and Advancing Sustainable Livestock Management,” is designed to deepen public understanding of the Oyo State Open Rearing and Grazing Regulation Law, 2019, and promote its fair, effective and humane enforcement.
She noted that the gathering would provide a platform for dialogue, cooperation and consensus-building among stakeholders, with a focus on fostering peace, strengthening security, protecting farmlands, and upholding the rule of law across Oyo State.
The summit, she added, reflects the state government’s continued commitment to tackling security concerns linked to open grazing while promoting sustainable livestock management practices that align with the law and protect the livelihoods of farmers and residents.
