The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, is set to promote six distinguished high and senior chiefs on Friday, in line with the Ibadan Chieftaincy Declaration.
The promotions come as a result of the vacant positions created following Oba Ladoja’s recent ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, having previously served as Otun Olubadan.
Among those to be elevated are Oba Eddy Oyewole, Oba Kola Daisi, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, Oba Adebayo Akande, Senior Chief Lekan Alabi, and Senior Chief Kola Babalola.
According to the promotion schedule,
Oba Eddy Oyewole will move from Osi Olubadan to Otun Olubadan;
Oba Hamidu Ajibade will rise from Ekerin Olubadan to Asipa Olubadan;
Oba Adebayo Akande will advance from Ekaarun Olubadan to Ekerin Olubadan;
Senior Chief Lekan Alabi will be promoted from Maye Olubadan to Abese Olubadan; and
Senior Chief Kola Babalola will progress from Abese Olubadan to Ekaarun Olubadan.
The historic ceremony will take place at the new Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, in the Ibadan North Local Government Area.
This event will also be the first traditional assignment to be conducted by Oba Ladoja since his official coronation on Friday, September 26, 2025, symbolizing the beginning of his reign’s administrative and traditional engagements.
