Oloye Saheed Oladele, a governorship aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State, has resigned his membership of the party with immediate effect.

Oladele communicated his decision in a letter dated Wednesday, September 16, 2026, addressed to the State Chairman of the SDP in Oyo State.

In the letter, titled “Resignation of Membership,” Oladele thanked the party for the opportunity to participate in its affairs and said he was grateful for the relationships, experiences and lessons gained during his time as a member.

“I write to formally tender my resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), with immediate effect,” he stated.

He, however, said his commitment to the progress and development of Oyo State, as well as the pursuit of good governance and a better Nigeria, remained unchanged.

Oladele wished the SDP and its members well as he formally brought his membership of the party to an end.

The resignation letter did not state what political platform, if any, Oladele intends to join next.
