Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs in Major Military Reshuffle

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved significant changes in the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of renewed efforts to bolster the nation’s security structure.


In the latest shake-up:


General Olufemi Oluyede has been named the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa.


Major General W. Shaibu now takes over as Chief of Army Staff.


Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke is the new Chief of Air Staff.


Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as the Chief of Naval Staff.


Major General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.



According to the State House, President Tinubu commended the outgoing Service Chiefs for their unwavering patriotism and steadfast leadership throughout their tenure. He urged the newly appointed military heads to build on existing efforts, maintain vigilance, and uphold the highest standards of military professionalism in defending Nigeria.


The appointments take immediate effect.
