Ibadan-based broadcaster Saheed Alatise, popularly known as Oba Irawo, has announced his departure from Abinibi 99.7 FM after five months as an Independent Presenter.
Alatise announced his exit in an official statement dated September 3, 2026, saying his decision takes effect immediately.
Reflecting on his time at the station, the broadcaster described the five months as rewarding, expressing appreciation to the management, colleagues and listeners for the opportunity to connect with the station's audience.
He particularly acknowledged the Chief Executive Officer, Queen Abosede Tessy Sho; Director of Operations, Alhaji Ismael Olaniyan; Head of Programmes, Imam Abidoye Olaniyan, as well as his colleagues and the station's listeners.
“It has been an honour to connect with Abinibi’s listeners and contribute to the station’s growth during this period,” Alatise said.
While announcing the end of his stint at Abinibi FM, he stressed that his passion for broadcasting and community storytelling remains strong.
According to him, he is looking forward to continuing his work in new capacities and promised to announce his new broadcasting home soon.
“Please watch out as I announce my new home soon,” he said.
Alatise's departure adds another point of interest to Ibadan's vibrant broadcasting landscape, with listeners now waiting to see where the broadcaster will continue his on-air career.
He ended his statement by thanking Abinibi 99.7 FM and its listeners for the opportunity and support during his five-month tenure.
