The Chairman of the 2027 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee, Mogaji Moshood Gbolagade Akere-Beyioku, is set to constitute various sub-committees for the next edition of the annual festival.
Akere disclosed this during the September general assembly meeting of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), held today at Ibadan house, Oke-Aremo,where he also provided an update on preparations for the 2027 edition.
The CCII general assembly is a monthly gathering of the council’s affiliate clubs, with each club expected to be represented by four members.
Akere, who chaired the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee and was subsequently reappointed to lead the 2027 edition, said the Central Planning Committee had commenced a review of the reports and activities of the 2026 festival.
He said the review was aimed at identifying areas where there were shortcomings and addressing them ahead of the 2027 edition.
The Central Planning Committee comprises Akere as Chairman, Dr. Monsurat Oluwatoyin Oyebola as Vice Chairman and Mr. Olatunde Najimdeen as Secretary.
According to Akere, the committee is focused on ensuring that lessons from the 2026 festival are properly documented and used to strengthen planning and execution for the forthcoming edition.
He said the constitution of the various sub-committees would be done with emphasis on competence, capacity and the ability of members to deliver on their assigned responsibilities.
The move is expected to mark the beginning of the organisational process for the 2027 Ibadan Cultural Festival, with the planning committee seeking to build on the successes of the 2026 edition while correcting identified lapses.
Akere's reappointment followed the 2026 festival, which the CCII leadership and stakeholders described as a successful edition. The 2026 festival featured a series of cultural, social and developmental activities before its grand finale in April.
The 2027 edition is therefore expected to retain the cultural identity of the festival while introducing improvements based on the experience and reports from the 2026 edition.
